Q: My computer crashed. I bought a new one, but I need the data off the old drive. Can I put it in the new computer and retrieve the data?
A: Possibly. Change the jumper setting on the back to secondary (slave). Follow the diagram on the drive. After installing it in the computer, it will show your data if it is still working. If not, the drive probably was damaged in the crash. Assuming the data is important, take it to a computer shop. This is a job for professionals. Otherwise, the data could be lost forever. Retrieving the data could run several thousand dollars.
