Pakootas, Inchelium beat Cusick, end 19-game run

Inchelium point guard Chelsi Pakootas had 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight steals, and the Hornets forced 50 turnovers to defeat visiting Cusick 66-47 Friday night, snapping the Panthers’ 19-game Panorama League winning streak.

Melissa Dick added 17 points for Inchelium (7-2, 5-1), which outscored Cusick 38-16 in the second half and offset Amanda Smith’s 29-point, 21-rebounds, five-block effort for the Panthers (7-2, 3-1).

The Hornets defense managed to shut down Panthers point guard Misty Ostlie, who didn’t score in the game. Ostlie dished out a game-high 10 assists.

Inchelium also shut down Smith in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Shanel Tatsey guarded Smith in the fourth quarter and held her scoreless.

•In other Panorama action, Titi Ala came two blocks short of a quadruple-double as St. George’s defeated visiting Republic 42-30 to take sole possession of first place in the South division. Ala finished with 11 points, 14 rebounds, 11 steals and eight blocks for the Dragons (8-1, 4-0), and Kerry Blake also scored 11 points. Jenna Burbank scored 12 to lead the Tigers (2-6, 1-4). … Samantha Flett had 20 points and eight rebounds as Wellpinit defeated visiting Springdale 71-48. Lainie Arnoux added 18 points for the Redskins (9-2, 5-1), who blew the game open by outscoring the Chargers 29-13 in the third quarter. Amanda Krieg scored 20 to lead Springdale (3-5, 2-3). … Nichole Miller had 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead Curlew to a 62-38 victory over host St. Michael’s. Amanda Grumbach added 20 points for the Cougars (7-2, 5-1), while Patty Urann scored 14 to lead the Warriors (4-7, 0-5). Katie Urann pulled down 16 rebounds for St. Michael’s. … Maria Villegas scored 13 points and Jessica Webb added 10 as Selkirk defeated host Northport 57-23. Mercedes Sullivan pulled down nine rebounds for the Rangers (4-6, 2-3), who outscored the Mustangs 34-8 in the second half. Kaprina Goodwin led Northport (1-7, 0-5) with 18 points and 14 blocks.

Kia Gibson scored 22 points as Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) opened its Great Northern League season with a 66-53 victory over host Medical Lake. Kelsey Stillar added 18 points for the Eagles (5-4, 1-0), while Richelle Daily led the Cardinals (5-1, 0-1) with 19 points and seven rebounds. … Jamie Thornton scored 20 points to lead Pullman to a 59-42 victory over host Chewelah. Alyssa Garro added 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from 3-point range for the Greyhounds (6-3, 1-0). Jochelle Schatz scored 15 to lead the Cougars (5-3, 0-1). … Amber Scott scored a career-high 22 points as Riverside (5-3, 1-0) defeated visiting Colville 49-32. Jessie DePell scored 17 points to lead Freeman to a 61-43 victory over Kettle Falls in the Northeast A League opener for both teams. Carley Heinen added 14 for the Scotties (8-1, 1-0), while Liz Beardslee had 21 points and six rebounds to lead the Bulldogs (4-6, 0-1). … Meagan Teade had 12 points and 11 rebounds as Colfax routed visiting Newport 60-27. Jordan Harazin added 10 points for the Bulldogs (8-3, 1-0), who outscored the Grizzlies (3-7, 0-1) 39-14 after the first quarter.

Krystal Pitkonen scored 21 points as Northwest Christian edged visiting Reardan 48-47 in a Bi-County League game at Colbert. Meagan Lindquist added 10 points and Mallissa Watts had six steals for the Crusaders (4-5, 3-4). Jen Christerson had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead the Indians (4-5, 3-4). … Zenda Reidt scored 11 points and Wilbur-Creston shut out host Lind-Ritzville in the first quarter en route to a 45-37 victory. Pam Passmore scored 15 points and Karla Koller added 14 as LaCrosse-Washtucna hung on to defeat Tekoa-Oakesdale 71-67 in overtime in a Whitman County League game at Oakesdale. The Tigercats (6-4, 2-1) opened the game on a 19-2 run, but Casey Smith and the Nighthawks (6-4, 2-2) rallied the entire game to force overtime. Smith had 12 points in the third quarter and finished with 24 for T-O. … Courtney Shoemaker scored 11 points and Michelle Smith added 10 to lead Garfield-Palouse (4-5, 2-1) to a 49-40 victory over Asotin in Palouse.
