Rams climb past Colville in opener

Jason Paul had 11 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks to lead Riverside to a 52-40 victory over visiting Colville in the Great Northern League opener for both teams Friday night.

Adam Anderson added 10 points for the Rams (6-2), who outscored the Indians 19-9 in the second quarter to take a 12-point halftime lead.

Trevor Fox scored 14 points to lead the Indians (1-7).

•In other GNL openers, Ben Hein scored 24 points as Pullman defeated host Chewelah 66-50. George Turner added 14 points for the Greyhounds (7-1), while Jesse Garner scored 11 to lead the Cougars (1-7). … Joel Noland scored six of his 17 points in a 12-0 second-quarter run that propelled Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) to a 57-36 victory over host Medical Lake. Travis Corigliano added 11 points for the Eagles (5-4), while Kevin Broadnax led the Cardinals (2-4) with 15.

•Brandon Holibaugh had 19 points and 11 rebounds as Kettle Falls routed visiting Freeman 52-24 in the Northeast A League opener for both teams. Jason Azzarito added 17 points, including three 3-pointers in the second half, for the Bulldogs (9-2).
