Oregon coach Ernie Kent passed on a chance to elaborate on junior college transfer Ivan Johnson’s suspension, other than saying that the beefy forward is unlikely to play this week and that things would proceed day-by-day from there. … Stanford coach Trent Johnson, whose team enjoyed a two-win week and plays Cal on Saturday, said Dan Grunfeld is not back to 100 percent after blowing out a knee last season. “He’s definitely not the same guy he was last year physically,” Johnson said of last year’s top scorer. “It’s limited his quickness, sometimes it affects his conditioning.” … Oregon State coach Jay John said the biggest difficulty in replacing star power forward David Lucas this season has come in the last 15 seconds on the shot clock, when the Beavers have struggled to find a go-to option. … Cal is third in the conference in 3-point shooting after finishing last in the Pac-10 in 2004-05.
