Albi turf project under way
The long-awaited Albi Stadium turf upgrade is under way.
The Spokane and Mead school districts are installing a new Field Turf surface to the stadium’s floor, replacing artificial turf installed in 1996. Field Turf is the same surface used at Washington State University’s Martin Stadium and Seattle’s Qwest Field.
The new surface will be ready for football in the fall, according to the Spokane district, which is spearheading the nearly $700,000 project.
The Greater Spokane League is scheduled to kick off its football season Thursday, Aug. 31 when Rogers High hosts East Valley at Albi.
