Hawkins Gebbers and Brent Wyatt both had 2-out solo home runs for Wenatchee, and three AppleSox pitchers held the Spokane RiverHawks to one run on three hits as Wenatchee beat Spokane 2-1 Saturday night in West Coast Collegiate Baseball League action at Avista Stadium.

Gebbers’ home run came in the fourth inning. Wyatt hit his in the sixth. Both home runs came off of Spokane starter Cory Powell, who pitched the entire game.

Chase Powell provided two hits for the RiverHawks, who are now tied with Wenatchee for first place in the WCCBL standings.

Spokane hosts Wenatchee tonight at Avista Stadium in the third and final game of the three-game series.

Golf

John Mann, 54, of Spokane aced the par-3 16th hole at Deer Park Golf Club on Saturday, but it was no ordinary hole-in-one.

Mann’s shot came during the Deer Park Amateur, which is part of the Toyota Series of Golf. Toyota had sponsored a hole-in-one contest on 16th hole, offering $16,000-$18,000 toward the purchase of any Toyota and Mann cashed in with a 4-iron from 176 yards out.
