Red Sox 9, Mets 4: At Boston, Mike Lowell and Alex Gonzalez homered to back rookie Jon Lester as the Red Sox beat New York to win their 10th consecutive game.

Tigers 4, Astros 0: At Detroit, Craig Monroe hit an RBI double in a three-run seventh and Nate Robertson threw seven scoreless innings to give the Tigers the victory over Houston.

Braves 5, Yankees 2: At New York, Horacio Ramirez won for the first time in three weeks, allowing eight hits over eight innings as Atlanta beat the Yankees.

Marlins 8, Devil Rays 4: At Miami, Miguel Olivo hit two home runs and Miguel Cabrera added another to help Florida past Tampa Bay for its eighth consecutive home victory.

White Sox 4, Pirates 2: At Pittsburgh, Mark Buehrle gave up two runs over seven innings and Chicago ran the Pirates’ record-tying losing streak to 12 games.

Phillies at Orioles ppd.: Rain forced the postponement of Baltimore’s game against Philadelphia. The teams will attempt to play a day-night doubleheader today.

Blue Jays 6, Nationals 0: At Toronto, A.J. Burnett pitched a shutout in his second start since returning from the disabled list, leading the Blue Jays over Washington.

Royals 9, Reds 8: At Cincinnati, Emil Brown drove in four runs to lead Kansas City’s comeback, and Matt Stairs hit a two-run homer in the ninth that led to the victory.

Indians 3, Cardinals 1: At St. Louis, C.C. Sabathia worked eight dominant innings to help Cleveland win consecutive games for the first time since the beginning of June.

Twins 9, Dodgers 2: At Minneapolis, Joe Mauer had a career-high five hits and Francisco Liriano threw seven sharp innings to help Minnesota beat Los Angeles.

Padres 3, Athletics 0: At San Diego, Chris Young outdueled Barry Zito and the Padres ended the Oakland ace’s six-game winning streak.

Giants 5, Rangers 3: At San Francisco, Matt Morris won three straight starts for the first time this season and Randy Winn hit a three-run homer, leading the Giants past Texas.

Rockies 12, Angels 4: At Anaheim, Calif., Garrett Atkins and Clint Barmes each had three RBIs and Colorado beat Los Angeles. The Rockies tied a season high with 18 hits. The victory snapped Colorado’s seven-game interleague losing streak against the Angels.
