Riverside loses heartbreaker

Nick Puckett scored on a 4-yard pass from Levi Powers in overtime to give Timberlake (3-0) a 42-41 win Friday over Riverside (1-1) in a non-league game in Spirit Lake.

Puckett also scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 2:11 left in the fourth quarter to send the game to OT.

Riverside scored first in the overtime period when Chris Wise caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Martin. The Rams, however, missed the extra point.

Puckett led all rushers with 253 yards on 37 carries and scored five total touchdowns. Tigers quarterback Levi Powers was 7 of 15 passing for 126 yards and two touchdowns.

In other non-league action, Jon Janye had 114 rushing yards on five carries to lead Reardan (2-0) to a 37-6 win over Liberty Bell in Reardan. Overall, the Indians rushed 34 times for 236 yards and held Liberty Bell to only 112 yards of total offense. Reardan quarterback Chance Ackerman had 106 passing yards, including a 40-yard touchdown pass to Jared Wilke in the first quarter. … J.T. Levenseller was 11 of 15 passing for 206 yards and three touchdowns as Pullman (3-0) knocked off Frenchtown (Mont.) 28-12 in Pullman. Levenseller also scored a rushing touchdown for Pullman’s first score of the game. Mike Meines caught eight passes for 112 yards and had a 30-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. Meines also had 77 rushing yards on 15 carries. …Joe Wilson ran for 253 rushing yards on just nine carries and scored three touchdowns as Medical Lake (1-1) beat Oroville 32-7 in Medical Lake. Wilson had touchdown runs of 59, 84 and 41 yards.

Northeast A

Freeman (2-1, 2-1) had 431 yards of total offense as the Scotties beat Chewelah (0-3, 0-3) 47-6 in Freeman. Scotties quarterback Andrew Dresback had 137 passing yards and threw four touchdowns and rushed for another in the win. Chris Davis led all rushers with 144 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns. Jordan Hoxie scored Chewelah’s only touchdown on a two-yard run in the first quarter. … Lucas Fox had 165 yards on 11 carries and scored three touchdowns as Kettle Falls (3-0, 3-0) beat Newport (0-3, 0-3) 54-9 in Kettle Falls. Brian Stroebel added 84 yards on seven carries for the Bulldogs. …Colfax (3-0, 3-0) beat host Lakeside (1-2, 1-2) 35-28 in Nine Mile Falls.

Justin Whitney rushed the ball six times for 120 yards and scored two touchdowns as Lind-Ritzville (2-0, 2-0) beat Selkirk (0-2, 0-1) 41-8 in Ione. Will Maupin led Selkirk with 70 rushing yards and a touchdown. … John Macias scored four touchdowns and ran for 168 yards as Liberty (2-1, 1-1) pounded Wellpinit (1-2, 0-1) 48-18 in Liberty. Lancers quarterback Taylor Heiydt had 102 passing yards and threw for two touchdowns. Wellpinit was held to 15 total rushing yards. … Kyle Nelson threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more as Davenport (4-0, 2-0) beat host Wilbur-Creston (0-3, 0-2) 47-14. Cory Christman added two touchdown runs for the Gorillas.

Danny D’Lerma had touchdown runs of 50, 65, 46 and 20 yards to lead Curlew (1-0, 1-0) to a 62-14 win over host Inchelium (0-3, 0-1). Cougars quarterback Austin Mannick added a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown and returned a fumble 32 yards for another score. … Logan Luiten caught two touchdown passes to lead Odessa (3-0, 1-0) to a 34-12 win over Almira/Coulee-Hartline (2-1, 0-1) in Odessa. Jacob Schmidt added a 51-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for the Tigers’ first score of the game. …Josh Wynn had 55 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Columbia (1-2, 1-0) to a 20-0 win over host Cusick (1-2, 0-1).
