The Post Falls Senior Activity Center is offering free transportation to the first 28 folks who sign up for an upcoming senior wellness conference in Spokane.

The conference will run from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at Spokane Community College. Music by the Project Joy Ensemble, a variety of presentations, health screenings and information booths will be on tap. Tickets are $10 and are available at the senior center.

Container gardening, keys to aging well, estate planning and raising grandchildren will be among the eight presentations.

Screenings related to body fat, bone density, blood glucose, cholesterol, depression, cataracts, hearing, spinal care and other conditions also will be available.

Go backpacking in Glacier

Outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to sign up for a backpacking trip at Glacier National Park in Montana over Labor Day weekend offered through North Idaho College’s Outdoor Pursuits.

The nonguided trip will be Aug. 31 through Sept. 3 in the park’s Bowman Lake area.

Participants should have some backpacking experience, as the hikes comprise moderate to difficult terrain. The trip also will include overnight camping.

Cost is $60, which covers transportation and park fees. Space is limited. For more information, call 769-7809.
