Letters on Zags puzzling
What the heck is wrong with the people who write these letters (Dec. 9)?
The first letter by Tom Kendall (“ESPNU flap hurts GU”) made no sense at all. Maria Sousa (“Zags lose a supporter”) seems to have the idea basketball players are outside scalping tickets before the game! Why else would she pull her support?
Ken Van Buskirk (“Average Zags fan left out”) has it backward. If GU had used public dollars to build the McCarthey Athletic Center, it would have had to allow events to take place that might have been unsavory for a Catholic university. That would have been “a deal with the devil.”
Also, the new stadium seats 2,000 more than Martin Centre! The whole idea was to ensure a full stadium for excitement and high energy, and to have all the seats be good seats.
Whiners abound when they can’t have their way; everyone cannot have everything they want! I see it all the time. My husband and I studied hard in school and have outstanding professions. We worked hard, saved money, and got season tickets five years ago. We couldn’t get tickets before the new arena was built, but it did not diminish our support for the team.
I am a Gonzaga graduate and proud of it. Gonzaga is a good team that is very popular, so I say good for them.
