GSL boys: Janhunen’s FT helps CV hold off U-Hi

Connor Janhunen made a free throw with 4.4 seconds remaining to give Central Valley a 71-70 Greater Spokane League victory over University on Friday night at U-Hi.

William Davis and Luke Clift each scored 17 points and Michael Williams added 15 to lead the Bears (5-4).

The Titans (3-5) were led by Andrew Pirttima and Mason Johnson, who scored 18 points apiece.

Elsewhere in the Greater Spokane League, Zack Humphrey scored 15 points, Aaron Dunn tossed in 13 and Anthony Brown added 11 as Shadle Park defeated Mt. Spokane 65-41 at Spokane Falls Community College. The Highlanders (7-1) came alive in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 39-23 to put the game away. Brad VanderLinden led Mt. Spokane (3-4) with 14 points. … DeAngelo Casto scored 14 points and Jeff Minnerly added 11 as Ferris defeated host Rogers 59-41. The Saxons (8-0) outscored the Pirates 17-6 in the second quarter to take a 33-14 lead into halftime. Jesse Vaughan led Rogers (2-6) with a game-high 18 points. … Sean Fischer scored a game-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting as Gonzaga Prep (6-1) knocked off host North Central 64-49. Fischer also converted 5 of 8 from beyond the arc. Nick Rijon led the Indians (3-5) with 13 points. … Kyle Baird scored a game-high 25 points and Brendan Ingebritsen tossed in 15 as Mead (3-5) downed host East Valley 65-54. Danny Marshall had 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Knights (0-8).
