Work stuff

The decision-makers for concerts and major events are rarely in Spokane, so I travel a lot. I use Orbitz.com to check fares and then usually go directly to the airline or car rental site to see if I can get a better deal by logging in as a member.

I can’t plan a trip (or pack accordingly) without Weather.com. For the latest concert industry news and realistic tour schedules, I visit Pollstar.com. To track down any music artist, I go to http://ubl.artistdirect.com.

For kicks

When time allows, I might cruise through WebSiteDesignAwards.com for examples of the best Web sites in the world.

For really trashy entertainment, check out TheSuperficial.com where the house special is always the worst in celebrity news.

Even more trashy, but amazing for showing what people will do for 15 seconds of notoriety: MyVideoBattle.com.

Pure diversion

Two of my recent free-time favorites are Google Earth (http://earth.google.com) and Zillow.com.

Using Google Earth, I like to put in a friend’s address on the East Coast and “fly” from Spokane to the friend’s home. I can also go check out where my brother-in-law is hunting in the mountains of Mexico. Very cool.

Zillow is just a trip. Pick a house anywhere. If you know the address you will find the value. Not sure it is a good negotiating tool, but it’s fun to play with.

When I want to see the English language used in unique ways, I visit the Charles Barkley quotes at http://clintcam.com/ barkley.
