Huskies take Big East
Connecticut is back on top of the Big East.
Charde Houston scored 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as UConn (24-2, 13-0 Big East) beat Pittsburgh (20-6, 8-5) 82-68 Saturday in Hartford, Conn., to secure at least a share of its first Big East regular-season championship in three years.
Connecticut jumped on the Panthers early with an 18-0 run to take a 29-6 lead.
(9) Stanford 74, Oregon 56: At Eugene, Ore., Jayne Appel had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Candice Wiggins scored 17 points and the Cardinal (23-4, 15-1 Pac-10) beat the Ducks (15-11, 7-9).
Appel nearly recorded a triple-double, also finishing with seven assists.
(13) Texas A&M 62, Oklahoma St. 60: At Stillwater, Okla., Takia Starks hit a jumper with 0.3 seconds remaining to help the Aggies survive a scare from the Cowgirls.
Oklahoma State, down by six in the final 3 minutes, rallied to tie the game on Maria Cordero’s layup with 23 seconds left.
(14) Oklahoma 70, Texas Tech 67: At Lubbock, Texas, Jenna Plumley scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Sooners (20-4, 10-3 Big 12) past the Red Raiders (15-12, 6-7).
(18) Bowling Green 85, Buffalo 44: At Amherst, N.Y., Megan Thorburn scored a season-high 22 points to lead the Falcons (24-2, 13-0 MAC) over the Bulls (8-17, 3-10).
Missouri 65, (19) Nebraska 53: At Lincoln, Neb., EeTisha Riddle scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half to lead the Tigers (16-10, 4-9 Big 12) to a win over the Huskers (21-6, 9-4).
Missouri dominated the game on the boards, pulling down 17 offensive rebounds while outrebounding Nebraska 44-32.
(21) Marquette 65, (20) Louisville 54: At Milwaukee, Christina Quaye scored 20 points and Krystal Ellis added 19 to lead the Golden Eagles (22-4, 10-3 Big East) to a win over the Cardinals (22-5, 8-5).
(22) California 67, Oregon State 61 (2OT): At Corvallis, Ore., Ashley Walker had 18 points, including a key layup in the second overtime, and the Bears (20-7, 10-6 Pac-10) defeated the Beavers (8-17, 3-13).
(23) Rutgers 62, Villanova 32: At Villanova, Pa., Essence Carson had 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Heather Zurich added a career-high 13 points to lead the Scarlet Knights (17-7, 10-3 Big East) to a victory over the Wildcats (7-19, 1-12).
