Bjorklund scores 13 during West’s defeat

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tennessee signee Angie Bjorklund of University High scored 13 points for the West during Wednesday’s 105-76 loss to the East in the McDonald’s All-American Game at Freedom Hall.

Duke signee Jasmine Thomas had 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists to lead the East and earn Most Valuable Player honors.

Thomas was one of five East players in double figures. Connecticut-bound Maya Moore had 18 points and six rebounds for the East.

Stanford signee Kayla Pedersen led the West with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

“USC-bound guard O.J. Mayo’s potential game-winning 3-point attempt hit the back of the rim in the final seconds, allowing the West to escape with a 114-112 win over the East in the boys game.

Michael Beasley scored 23 points for the West and was named the Most Valuable Player. He will play at Kansas State next year.
