In brief: Businesses promote ‘Girls Day Out’

This weekend is for the ladies.

Girls Day Out is a two-day shopping event featuring more than 50 merchants and restaurants in Spokane, catering to female customers. Businesses will be offering special treats and treatments to women shoppers on Nov. 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. and on Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

District maps with participating business can be found at the four Neighborhood Business District Headquarters: Shelli’s Antiques Building (Hillyard), 5024 N. Inland Crafts celebrates 25 years

Inland Crafts is presenting its 25th Annual Inland Crafts Show, Friday from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Group Health Exhibit Hall of the Spokane Convention Center, 334 Spokane Falls Blvd.

Around 75 artisans from six states and British Columbia will show crafts from many media including basketry, blown and kiln-formed glass, jewelry, clothing, metal sculptures for gardens, dolls, furniture and more.

The event will include live demonstrations and refreshments and light lunches will be available.

A daily $100 gift certificate will be awarded.

Admission is $7 and is good for the entire weekend, or free from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

A dollar for every paid admission will be donated to Mobius Kids.

SRHD presents policy workshop

Spokane Regional Health District will present “Policy Development from the Ground Up,” a workshop, Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Moran Prairie Library, 6004 S. Regal St.

The workshop is for public employees or members of nonprofits who want to be involved in policy development.

Participation is limited to 30 people, and the deadline to register is Friday.

Admission is $15 to cover the cost of lunch.
