Swift leads Grizzlies past Sonics
Stromile Swift scored a season-high 24 points, Mike Miller added 19 points and seven assists and the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Seattle Supersonics 125-108 Monday night at Memphis, Tenn.
Damon Stoudamire had 16 points and seven assists and Hakim Warrick added 16 points for the Grizzlies, who stopped a three-game skid. Pau Gasol had 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and seven blocked shots, one short of his career-high for rejections.
Delonte West led Seattle with 17 points, Chris Wilcox added 16, and Jeff Green had 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Memphis built an early lead and Seattle never really threatened in the second half. The Grizzlies shot 58 percent through the first three quarters, building the lead to as many as 27 before coasting to the their largest margin of victory this season.
Magic 95, Hornets 88: At New Orleans, Dwight Howard had 24 points and 15 rebounds and Rashard Lewis scored 19 to lift Orlando to a second straight impressive victory.
Coming one night after the Magic handed the Boston Celtics their first loss of the season, Orlando’s fifth straight victory snapped the Hornets’ five-game winning streak.
New Orleans was without point guard Chris Paul (ankle) for the second game in a row, and center Tyson Chandler left in the second quarter with a hyperextended knee.
Bobcats 101, Trail Blazers 92: At Charlotte, N.C., Gerald Wallace scored 27 points for the third consecutive game, and the Bobcats shut down Portland.
Raymond Felton had 24 points and 10 assists and Jason Richardson scored 24 points as the Bobcats improved to 6-4, the best record through 10 games in their four-year history.
Jazz 102, Nets 75: At Salt Lake City, Deron Williams rebounded from two subpar games to score 20 points and lead Utah to a win over reeling New Jersey.
Williams made 8 of 11 shots and had six assists and Carlos Boozer scored 17 points to help the Jazz improve to 5-1 at home. Mehmet Okur and Ronnie Brewer added 14 points each for the Jazz.
The loss was the Nets’ sixth straight after starting the season 4-1.
