PULLMAN – Junior guard Katie Appleton scored a career-high 24 points Wednesday night to carry Washington State to a 67-49 non-conference women’s basketball win over Idaho at Friel Court.

Appleton shot 8 of 16 from the floor, including 4 of 7 on 3-pointers. Redshirt freshman Salena Dickerson added 14 points for the Cougars on 7-of-11 shooting.

WSU (2-4) registered its first home win since Dec. 17, 2006. The margin of victory was the Cougars’ largest in two years.

WSU took control with an early 9-0 run and led by as many as 27 points.

“I thought our execution was on a higher level at both ends of the floor,” said WSU coach June Daugherty.

Katie Madison shot 9 of 13 from the floor and scored a season-high 20 for Idaho (0-6).
