Fall food classes

Wake up your kitchen routine with a fall cooking class. There are lessons for everything from chocolate to pierogi coming up. Here are a few of the offerings:

The Chocolate Apothecary, 621 W. Mallon Ave., is holding a chocolate class Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. The cost is $15. Call (509) 324-2424 to reserve a space. The Web site is www.chocolateapothecary.com.

Carolyn’s Cake, Candy and Cookie Supplies, 1705 N. Hamilton St., is offering classes for beginner cake decorating, rolled fondant, cookie bouquets and gingerbread houses. The schedule is at Web site www.carolynscakes.com, and classes range from $30 to $65. Sign up online for a $5 discount. Or, call (509) 489-3631.

The Greenbriar, 315 Wallace Ave., in Coeur d’Alene is hosting a series of classes starting Thursday for Wild Game, Advanced Sauces, Country French, Meat Fabrication, Artisan Breads, Tapas and Hors d’oeuvres and Mediterranean Cuisine. Each class is held on a weekday and then repeated on the weekend. They are $45 each and include a meal and wine or another beverage. Call (208) 667-9660.

The Moscow Food Co-op is hosting classes for Ecuadorian and Polish cuisine. The classes are held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palouse, 420 E. Second Ave. The first class is next Wednesday. For more information, contact Jennifer Whitney (208) 882-1942.

Biscotti, polenta, cheesecakes and cinnamon rolls are all class subjects offered through the Spokane Parks and Recreation Activity Guide, www.spokaneparks.org. The class schedule is online, or you can call (509) 625-6200.

And don’t forget the Institute for Extended Learning classes, www.iel.spokane.edu. Some of the classes fill up very quickly. Thai and Italian, jerky making and quick, low-fat cooking are on the calendar. Call (509) 279-6000.
