KEC distributes Round Up grants
Kootenai Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up Trust has distributed second quarter grants to six area community groups.
Recipients are listed.
Lifelines, $1,000; Rathdrum/Westwood Historical Society, $2,500; Inland Northwest Blood Center, $2,500; Girl Scouts of the Inland Empire Council, $2,094; Specialized Needs Recreation, $1,239; ICARE, $2,000.
Money for Operation Round Up comes from KEC clients who check a box on their monthly bill which allows for the rounding up of their total due, with the difference being donated to the fund.
The city of Coeur d’Alene’s Specialized Needs Recreation program has received a $500 grant from the Adirondack Community Trust-North America Sports Community Fund.
The funds will be used to help support the SNR’s Camp Allstars day camp program, which serves more than 180 local special needs youth, ages 4 through 21.
The Camp Allstars program provides positive emphasis on a child’s abilities and builds confidence through crafts, swimming, sports, boating, fishing, camping, hiking and cooking with others in a nonthreatening environment.

Seasons at Sandpoint recently donated $40,000 to Panhandle Alliance for Education, a nonprofit organization that raises money for the Lake Pend Oreille School District.
The funds will help support teacher grants, reading programs and the ongoing endowment for the school district.
