Area Roundup: ESPN has 12 GU dates
The Gonzaga men’s basketball team will make at least 12 appearances on the ESPN family of stations this upcoming season, while the Bulldogs women will appear for the third time in the past two seasons.
The GU men will have nine games tied into the West Coast Conference ESPN package, plus three other games during the course of the season. Two of the feature games will be the Bulldogs hosting Washington State on Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. on ESPNU and a game against the University of Tennessee on Dec. 29 in the Battle in Seattle at KeyArena at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
The Bulldogs women will host Pepperdine on Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.
Hockey
Four Spokane Chiefs players will attend National Hockey League training camps this month.
Drayson Bowman will be in camp with the Carolina Hurricanes while Chris Bruton (St. Louis), Justin Falk (Minnesota) and Ondrej Roman (Dallas) will also participate in NHL training camps.
Men’s soccer
Skye Henderson’s goal just more than a minute into overtime gave Whitworth (1-1-1) a 2-1 victory over NAIA 15th-ranked Simon Fraser (4-1-1) in a non-conference match at Whitworth.
