Astros 5, Marlins 0: At Houston, Brandon Backe pitched five strong innings and Lance Berkman hit a two-run homer and scored another run, helping the Astros beat Florida. Backe gave up five hits and five walks with two strikeouts in 105 pitches.
Pirates 4, Reds 3: At Pittsburgh, Nate McLouth singled in the go-ahead run and had two more hits, and the Pirates won consecutive games for the first time this season by beating Cincinnati.
Phillies 7, Cubs 1: At Philadelphia, Cole Hamels allowed one hit over seven innings, and Pedro Feliz and Ryan Howard hit two-run homers and the Phillies beat Chicago.
Cardinals 8, Giants 7 (10): At San Francisco, Chris Duncan lined a go-ahead single to left with the bases loaded in the 10th inning and St. Louis battered the San Francisco bullpen to rally for the victory after trailing 5-0.
Diamondbacks 10, Rockies 3: At Phoenix, Justin Upton went 3 for 3 with four RBIs, including a three-run home run, to power Arizona to its eighth consecutive victory.
Brewers 5, Mets 3: At New York, home runs by Bill Hall, Rickie Weeks and Gabe Kapler helped Milwaukee come from behind and Ben Sheets overcame a shaky start as the Brewers downed the Mets.
Dodgers 11, Padres 1: At Los Angeles, Andre Ethier went 3 for 5 with a two-run homer and the Dodgers beat San Diego.
