Response lukewarm to Pillsbury Cinnamon Twists

Lorie Hutson

Food panel tasters didn’t exactly gush about Pillsbury Cinnamon Twists, but let’s just say most of them cleaned their plates.

The Pillsbury’s New Flaky Cinnamon Twists are essentially the company’s signature cinnamon rolls, that are unrolled and reshaped into twists before baking. Tasters gave them a lukewarm reception and three stars out of five for flavor.

“Make no mistake, this is not a Cinnabon,” said Larry Inman. When it was revealed that the twists were made with Cinnabon cinnamon, he added. “OK. But it is certainly not an outstanding one.”

“A great, hot cinnamon roll,” said Tina Johnson.

Johnson, and other tasters, liked the new twists with chocolate icing better.

“I’ll eat anything if you put chocolate on it, so I’m probably not a good judge of this. But, (this is) a flaky pastry that is covered in chocolate. What could be bad about that?” she asked.

Gabe Kohler liked the rolls, but thought they were a bit sweet.

“Very sweet. Surprisingly, the chocolate and the cinnamon work well together. However, the flavors are hidden by such overpowering sweetness.”

Marilyn Moore was dismayed by the way the treat left her fingers sticky.

“A croissant spoiled by runny chocolate. A messy way to serve a roll,” Moore said.
