A children’s classic tale will fill the stage of the Central Valley High School Theatre next week with the production of L.M. Montgomery’s “Anne of Green Gables.”

The play is set to run at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and next Saturday and May 28 through 31. Directed by Michael Muzatko, this final production for the 2007-08 season is scheduled in CV’s performing arts theater, 821 S. Sullivan Road.

Set in the fictional village of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island, the story follows 11-year-old Anne Shirley as she changes life in the quiet village. The beloved characters of the book will come to life, including imaginative Anne, who is played by freshman Amanda Seely, and her friends Diana Barry, portrayed by senior Alyssa Elliott, and Gilbert Blythe, acted by junior Jason Walker.

As Anne’s caretakers, the characters of Matthew Cuthbert (Steven Schneidmiller, junior) and his sister Marilla (Alexandria Arthun-Roullier, sophomore) must adjust to life with a young girl in their home while characters like Aunt Josephine (Natalie Springel, ) and Rachel Lynde (Lani Call, freshman) look on. This enduring tale of acceptance and belonging is set to appeal to family audiences.

Tickets are $7, available through the CVHS business office during business hours or at the door. Call the entertainment hotline at 228-5218 for ticket and show information.
