In brief: Thief uses shotgun to blast into business

From Local Reports

SPOKANE VALLEY - While burglars may use a rock or a crowbar or a shoulder to force entry into a building, a thief used a shotgun Saturday and made off with thousands of dollars worth of vacuum cleaners and other items, said Spokane Valley Police spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.

An employee at SCS Distributing, 11607 E. Trent Ave., called 911 about 8 p.m. and reported that someone had broken into the business. He reported that the last employee had left the business about 10:30 a.m.

Officer Jeremy Howe arrived and determined that the suspect had entered through a window that had been shattered with a shotgun blast. Bird shot pellets were still embedded in the wood frame of the window.

Among the missing items were a decorative sword from the office, at least 20 vacuum cleaners valued at $2,549 each and a Dell computer.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
