Yoplait Smoothies are ‘cool snack’

If you’ve got a blender, you’ve run out of excuses for missing that morning serving of fruit.

Yoplait has combined the yogurt and fruit for two smoothies in a handy new freezer package. Add milk and whip it up in the blender. Each smoothie has one full serving of fruit.

The Spokesman-Review food panel tasters gave the Triple Berry smoothie four stars out of five for flavor. They weren’t as thrilled about the Strawberry Mango Pineapple flavor, in part because they had trouble identifying the taste. It scored three stars out of five.

Both smoothies, which sell for $2.99 per package, received a three-star value rating.

“Good fruity flavor with a great color that looks like it would be crammed with antioxidants. Creamy,” Tina Johnson said of the Triple Berry.

Nancy Robinson agreed: “Very good berry flavor. I hope it’s good for you as I really like it … I would buy this for a nice cool snack.”

Despite the four-star rating, there were some complaints. A few people said they didn’t like the seeds in the smoothie.

“Too sweet for me, but nice consistency,” said Marcia Oranen. “It’s thick and creamy. Tastes like ice cream.”

Some tasters also knocked the Strawberry Mango Pineapple.

“Weak, helpless flavor vaguely reminiscent of strawberries,” said Andy Hoye.

Peggy Kazanis added, “The fruit in this is unidentifiable, not quite as exciting as the berry flavor.”

But Gabe Kohler was a fan. “Nice tropical flavor. Very cool and refreshing,” he said.
