Religion notebook: Moran UMC hosts concert, picnic

Moran United Methodist Church, 3601 E. 65th Ave., will present a community concert in the park Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Scheduled to perform at the concert is Jenks, a band that performs children’s music, Senior Serenaders from Project Joy, who perform old-time favorites and show music, and the Turner Sisters, who are fiddlers and singers.

A pie social will be held after the concert.

Moran UMC will also present the Inland District United Methodist Church’s 2010 Clergy & Laity Potluck Picnic Sunday at 3 p.m.

Genesis, a musical group from Central United Methodist Church, will perform, as well as the Mischief Maidens of Moran UMC.

Picnickers are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.

Rummage sale

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., will present a rummage sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The sale will benefit the church’s Haiti School Project, which will help to pay teachers’ salaries and continue a feeding program for students in the village of Cazale east of Port-au-Prince.

Items for sale will include new and used household goods, furniture, clothing, toys and sporting goods. For more information, call Chris Newton at (509) 838-0121.
