NIC in title games
PRICE, Utah – North Idaho College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams play for titles today at the Region 18 tourney.
The North Idaho women outlasted College of Southern Idaho 94-87 in two overtimes Friday to advance to the title game, while the men beat CSI 91-78.
The women face Salt Lake Community College (25-5) at 4 p.m., while the men play host Eastern Utah (22-9) at 6:30.
Camille Reynolds scored 15 points and Kama Griffits, Katie Sanders and Amy Warbrick each added 11 for the Cardinals (25-6), who will face top-seeded Salt Lake CC for the title and a berth in the national tournament.
Tugce Canitez pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds for NIC.
For the men, the Cardinals (27-4) outscored CSI 47-35 in the second half to pull away. Idell Bell scored a game-high 23 points, and B.J. Shearry added 16 points and 10 rebounds. A win would send NIC into a play-in game for the national tourney.
