Colfax 45, Adna 44

Brandon Gfeller hit two free throws with 9.2 seconds remaining to push the Colfax Bulldogs’ (23-3) lead to four, securing their win over the Adna Pirates (22-4).

The Pirates trailed by six going into the fourth quarter but cut the deficit to 43-41 with a little more than a minute remaining.

After trading empty possessions, Colfax’s J.J. Robinson poked the ball loose from Coulsen Kohler and Justin Berarducci stole the ball with 17 seconds left.

Gfeller went 5 of 6 from the free-throw line as the Bulldogs, who did not attempt a free throw in the first half, went 10 of 12 from the line in the final two quarters.

Adna’s Nate Trotter led all scorers with 15 points and added 11 rebounds.

NW Christian 59 La Conner 57

Dakota Winward scored 10 of his 15 points in the third quarter and Cole Ramey’s free throw with 10.4 seconds left helped secure the win for the Northwest Christian Crusaders (24-2) against the La Conner Braves (21-6) in first-round action.

The Braves had the last possession to try and tie the game, but Mike Wilbur was called for traveling in the paint, trying to work his way around Northwest Christian’s Jack Shannon.

Ramey finished with a team-high 16 points and six assists for the Crusaders, who played the majority of the game without leading scorer Kwinn Hanson, who left in the first half after getting elbowed in the mouth.

Landy James had 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting for La Conner.

Napavine 59, Lake Roosevelt 42

Reece Stanley notched 15 points and 10 rebounds and Jordan Brown chipped in 15 points as the Napavine Tigers (24-3) used a 24-0 run that spanned three quarters to knock off the Lake Roosevelt Raiders (21-6) in quarterfinal action.

The Raiders failed to score over a 12-minute stretch that included parts of the first and third quarters and the entire second period.

Lake Roosevelt outscored the Tigers 35-25 in the second half but couldn’t overcome a deficit that was as large as 27 in the first half.

The Raiders were led by the 16 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks from Ty Egbert.

Brandon Kohler added 12 points and three assists for the Raiders, who will have to win in their loser-out game at 10:30 a.m. to move on to Saturday’s placing games.

Napavine, which also received 11 points and nine rebounds from Colton Brown, will play in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m.

Ryan Strandin scored eight of his 18 points in the fourth quarter and overtime and added 20 rebounds as the Grizzlies (23-4) outscored the Cardinals (21-3) 11-0 in the overtime to pull away for the win.

The Grizzlies held a six-point halftime lead but saw that disappear in the second half.

The Cardinals pulled ahead in the fourth quarter and twice went back on top with 3-pointers.

The last one from Zach Bartlow gave the Cardinals a two-point lead with 45 seconds remaining.

Strandin’s bucket with 18 seconds left forced overtime, where the Bears were 5 of 8 from the free-throw line to put the game away.

Bartlow finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Cardinals and Dustin Wooderchak added nine points and five boards.

Erik Domas tallied 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Grizzlies.
