Amadeus serves up advice at Kitchen Engine

Chef Amadeus, winner of the Food Network’s Extreme Chef competition, will teach a class at The Kitchen Engine at 6 p.m. on Dec. 6.

Amadeus will be making Shrimp and Grits, Curry Butternut Squash with Diced Chicken, and Sweet Potato Rolls with Praline Sauce. The celebrity chef also is known for a blend of salt-free seasonings he created called “Southern Passion.” They will be available at the class.

The presentation-style class is limited to 20. The price is $59 per person. To reserve a spot, call the Kitchen Engine at (509) 328-3335.

Chef Amadeus will also be doing a free demonstration with his spice line at The Kitchen Engine on Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Amadeus was raised in Jacksonville, Fla. He grew up cooking with his grandmother, who was from Puerto Rico, and his mother from Philadelphia. He has been cooking professionally for 15 years, gaining some of his experience in the Navy.

‘Restaurant Impossible’ recruiting

The Food Network’s “Restaurant Impossible” wants to save a restaurant in the Inland Northwest.

The show is seeking casting applications from restaurants that are at risk of closing. According to a news release, it’s looking for “passionate restaurateurs” who have fallen on hard times. The restaurant’s owners and management must be willing to take guidance from a celebrity chef and must be willing to overhaul their menu, décor and theme to get back on track to success.

The restaurant owners must have strong, outgoing personalities and it must be a full-service restaurant with at least 50 seats and no more than 250, according to the casting call.
