More area farmers markets plan to open Saturday

Area farmers markets are springing to life around the region.

The Spokane Farmers Market in downtown Spokane and the Kootenai County Farmers Market in Hayden are both opening for the season on Saturday.

The Spokane Farmers Market will continue to be in the grassy field at Fifth Avenue between Division and Browne streets. It opens for the 14th season at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The market closes at 1 p.m. The Wednesday market – held in the same location during the same hours – begins June 13.

The Kootenai County Farmers Market opens at 9 a.m. Saturday at Prairie Avenue and Highway 95. The market closes at 1:30 p.m. The Wednesday market, held 4 to 7 p.m. at Fifth Street and Sherman Avenue in downtown Coeur d’Alene, begins next Wednesday.

The Tuesday Growers Market in the Moscow Food Co-op parking lot opens for the season on Tuesday. The market is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Oct. 16.

The South Perry Farmers Market opens May 17, at 915 S. Perry St. That market is from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays. The Liberty Lake Farmers Market launches on May 19. It is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays in the Liberty Square Building parking lot. And the Millwood Farmers Market, held 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Millwood Community Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road, is opening for the season on May 23.

A few farmers markets opened earlier this month.

In Idaho, the Farmers Market at Sandpoint and the Moscow Farmers Market both opened in early May. The Famers Market at Sandpoint is at Farmin Park at Third Avenue and Oak Street. It is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesdays from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

The Moscow Farmers Market is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the Jackson Street public parking lot off Friendship Square in downtown Moscow.
