Emeralds shut out Indians
EUGENE – Starter Coby Cowgill and three Emeralds relievers combined to shut out the Spokane Indians on eight hits in Eugene’s 5-0 Northwest League baseball victory on Friday night.
Cowgill (2-0) gave up three hits and a walk while striking out six in 5 2/3 innings to lower his ERA to 1.62.
Designated hitter Marcus Greene led the Indians with three hits, who had no extra-base hits. First baseman Barrett Serrato added two more singles.
Eric Brooks (1-3) started and took the loss for Spokane, surrendering four runs, three earned.
The Indians loaded the bases in the ninth with three one-out singles before Adam Cimber relieved and got the final two outs.
