CCS warms up with a win

Carmen Richardson had nine kills and a .692 attack percentage along with 29 assists and teammates Dana Norris and Jenna Widman had 15 and 10 kills, respectively, in CC Spokane’s five-set volleyball victory over Clackamas at Spokane Falls CC on Thursday.

The nonconference match – won by the Sasquatch 14-25, 25-20, 25-14, 21-25, 15-11 – was a warmup for the two-day, 12-team Spokane Invitational that begins play today at SFCC.

Women’s soccer

Washington State and host Boise State finished in a 0-0 draw in a nonconference match that was delayed at the start for 30 minutes because of lightning.

The Cougars (3-0-1) had 10 shots, the host Broncos 11. WSU goalkeeper Gurveen Clair made five saves.

Prep boys soccer

Chase Dinning opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, Caleb Blackmore recorded a clean sheet and Bonners Ferry defeated visiting St. Maries 4-0 in an Intermountain League match.

Steffen Robles assisted on the opening goal and added a score of his own late for the Badgers (2-0-1 overall). Cameron Woods and Jake Tremble each added goals in the second half against the Lumberjacks (1-1-0).

Prep volleyball

Host Lewiston defeated Post Falls 25-17, 25-10, 25-22 in an Inland Empire League match. Claree Hobart had three aces and 11 digs for the victorious Bengals, and Emilee Schlader added 13 kills and Makayla Wilson 18 assists for Lewiston. Breena Meehan led the way for the Trojans with six kills, six assists, and one block.
