A few small bites
Still working through those Thanksgiving leftovers? Yeah, me too.
So in that spirit, here are some odds and ends kicking around from the holiday week in beer:
– Black Friday marked the release of Goose Island’s barrel-aged Bourbon County Stout , one of the world’s finest black beers. We know for sure that it arrived at Enoteca in Post Falls; keep an eye out at other specialty bottle shops.
– Boundary Bay ’s Cabin Fever, a fine winter seasonal, is in stock now at Zag’z Liquor Store – worth noting, since the Bellingham brewery doesn’t regularly distribute around these parts. You’ll also find the Scotch and IPA in bottles, and the latter on tap for growler fills.
– Northern Ales in Kettle Falls has issued its seasonal Smoked Northporter (6 percent alcohol by volume, 35 International Bitterness Units), brewed with peated malt. Look for it in 22-ounce bottles and on draft up north, and at Bottles in Spokane Valley.
– Ninaski is adding a pair of previously limited releases to its year-round lineup: Lux , a lighter German-style helles lager, and Dawn of the Red , an India red ale with tropical flavors from El Dorado and Mosaic hops.
– Finally, Waddell’s owner Michael Noble is far from his Kickstarter goal for a pair of projects we recently told you about – the On the Rip insulated beer serving tray, and My Beer Taps beer-tracking app – but he says he’s found an investor to help make the ideas a reality. Thanksgiving, indeed.
