Halloween II
Here’s a last-minute update on more Halloween happenings at area breweries and craft beer bars:
– Slate Creek in Coeur d’Alene is pouring a special beer dubbed the Valkyrie (“chooser of the slain,” in old Norse) – described as a cross between its Norse Nectar juniper pale ale and Harper’s Oatmeal Stout – in three variations: regular, cherry and bourbon barrel. Wear your costume for pint discounts.
– Nearby at Trickster’s , growler fills are a mere $5 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. to help fuel those party plans.
– Perry Street Brewing has a Halloween happy hour from noon to 6 p.m., with pint and growler discounts and candy for the kids.
– Zythum Brewing in Fairfield also is offering sweets for the younger set and happy-hour pricing all evening for adults, with Woodchuck Pumpkin Cider on tap in addition to the beer selections.
– Pints Alehouse is celebrating in a big way with all three of Avery Brewing’s Demons of Ales – Samael’s oak-aged English strong ale (16.2 percent alcohol by volume), Mephistopheles imperial stout (17) and The Beast grand cru (18) – as well as the Pumpkyn imperial pumpkin porter (17.2), all in 6-ounce taster tulips.
– The Hop Shop is hosting a Great Gatsby Halloween Extravaganza with prizes for the best period costumes as well as door prizes, music, beer specials and the Thai Lunch Box food truck.
– Activities at Crafted Tap House in Coeur d’Alene include a dance party, costume contest and discounts on selected pints from the 50 taps, starting at 9 p.m.
– Look for costume contests at Capone’s in Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls and Hayden.
