Penalized The NCAA put Oklahoma State’s football program on a year of probation Friday for failing to follow its own drug-testing policies over a four-year span. The Committee also ordered OSU to suspend its Orange Pride student organization after determining the all-female group “impermissibly” helped in recruiting efforts after being organized by the football program. Reorganizing The Edmonton Oilers announced sweeping front-office changes. Patrick LaForge stepped down as president and CEO while Craig MacTavish will move from GM to a job yet to be determined. Peter Chiarelli was appointed president of hockey operations. Kevin Lowe will leave hockey operations but remain vice chairman of Oilers Entertainment Group.

Returning Star forward Jaromir Jagr is coming out of international retirement to play for the Czech Republic at the upcoming world championship in his native country. Expanding NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman told a meeting of Associated Press Sports Editors that he considers a half-billion dollars a reasonable figure for expansion fees in the next round. That’s a significant increase from the $80 million price tag four teams paid the last time the NHL expanded in the 1990s.

• MLS intends to develop additional expansion plans within six months. The league already has announced Atlanta and a second Los Angeles team will start play in 2017, Minneapolis will join in 2018 and David Beckham will own a Miami team whose start date is uncertain.

Agreed The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms on a one-year deal with WR Hakeem Nicks. Nicks, 27, caught 38 passes for 405 yards and four touchdowns with the Colts last year.

Hired Swim coach Bob Bowman, the longtime trainer of 18-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps, has been hired as Arizona State’s coach for the men’s and women’s programs.

Resigned Tennis great Martina Navratilova’s brief stint as coach of 2012 Wimbledon runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska is finished. Navratilova, who won 18 Grand Slam singles titles as a player, and Poland’s Radwanska, who is currently ranked No. 9, issued statements to announce the parting.

Sidelined Santa Anita Handicap winner Shared Belief will be sidelined for 60 to 90 days after sustaining a right hip injury in the Charles Town Classic last weekend.
