Kick out the ‘KAN Jam
No-Li Brewhouse is taking a new approach with its biggest beer bash yet.
After three of its own small-batch festivals and a couple more events co-starring other area brewers, Saturday’s The ‘KAN JamBEERee will welcome seven breweries from throughout the West along with live music, food trucks and games.
Joining No-Li will be Seattle’s Black Raven and Schooner Exact , Portland’s Alameda and Base Camp , Eugene’s Oakshire , Boise’s Payette and California’s Firestone Walker . Each is pouring two beers, while No-Li will have eight of its own (see full list below).
“It’s a good way to get an exchange of beer cultures,” says No-Li owner John Bryant.
Unlike the previous events on No-Li’s riverfront patio, this one will be in a lot on the north side of the brewery (also along the river, which will serve as a backdrop for the beer stations) to accommodate all the action.
That includes music by The Dan Conrad Trio; food from the Street Royalty (formerly King of Tacos) and Bistro Box trucks; and activities including a dunk tank ($1 per ball) to support the Spokane Fire Department’s wildfire relief efforts, cornhole and a keg toss with the winner receiving a No-Li prize pack.
The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Advance tickets are $20, including guaranteed admission and six 4-ounce beer samples; at the gate (as space is available), drink tickets will be five for $20.
Proceeds will be donated to Operation Ward 57 , which supports wounded, injured and ill service members and veterans, and their caregivers.
Here’s what to look for beer-wise:
No-Li: Spokane Style Irish Coffee (Rise & Grind coffee/oatmeal/milk stout aged in Dry Fly wheat whiskey barrels), Barley Bash (a blend of Mosh Pit tart cherry ale and barrel-aged Big Bang barleywine ), Brass Berries (Brass Monkey strong golden ale cask-conditioned with raspberries), Banana Split Cycle (Spin Cycle red with banana and vanilla), Posing Peaches (peach-infused Poser pale ale), Madgascar Mocha (Rise & Grind infused with vanilla and chocolate), a cask-conditioned Hoppy Surprise and one more to be determined.
Alameda: Yellow Wolves of Thailand (Yellow Wolf imperial IPA with Thai basil, dried mangoes, flaked coconut and ginger); Red Sun (golden ale with cherry puree, sweet orange peel and hibiscus flowers).
Base Camp: Hop in the ‘Pool Late Hop Helles (whirlpool-hopped lager), Lost Meridian Wit (with citrusy Meridian hops for a mimosa-like character).
Black Raven: Redfeather red session IPA, Sunthief Kristallweizen filtered wheat beer.
Oakshire: Sun Made Cucumber Berliner Weiss, Overcast Espresso Stout.
Payette: Outlaw IPA, Fly Line Vienna Lager.
Firestone Walker: Pivo Pilsner, Double Barrel IPA.
