Girls basketball roundup: Swannack leads Lakeside’s comeback over St. George’s

Sienna Swannack scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Lakeside erased an early 10-point deficit and beat St. George’s 55-49 in a nonleague game Tuesday in Nine Mile Falls.

Swannack made 12 of 13 free throws and Hallie Jensen added nine points and six rebounds for the Eagles (2-1).

Lakeside outscored St. George’s 22-11 in the third to erase a 16-6 first-quarter deficit.

Hailey Higashi led the Dragons (2-2) with 23 points and Abby Jones added 14.

Coeur d’Alene 62, Northwest Christian 38: Rey Louden had 14 points and eight rebounds as the Vikings (3-1) pulled away in each quarter and beat the host Crusaders (1-1). Emily Callahan added 13 points and five assists for Coeur d’Alene. Rachel Bozlee led NWC with nine points, five steals and four rebounds.

West Valley 41, Lakeland 25: Lily Sinner scored nine points and Aaliyah Romes and Caitlyn Hossfeld added eight apiece as the Eagles (1-3) topped the visiting Hawks (2-2).

Sandpoint 62, Kellogg 22: Madi Schoening had 21 points, five steals and four rebounds in leading the Bulldogs (2-3) past the visiting Wildcats (0-2). Grace Kirscher added 16 points, including four 3-pointers, for Sandpoint, which outscored Kellogg 26-4 in the second quarter to take a 43-13 halftime lead. Kayla Graybill-Miller led Kellogg with 11 points.

East Valley 68, Freeman 35: Genesis Wilkinson and Hannah Burland scored 12 points apiece as the Knights (2-1) used a 23-5 first-quarter run to gain control and beat the host Scotties (1-1). Freeman’s Sydney Sather tallied a team-high 11 points.

Timberlake 57, Riverside 29: Shelby Starr scored 14 points and the Tigers (3-0) set the tone with a 27-6 first-quarter run and routed the Rams (1-1) at Spirit Lake. Keelie Lawler added 11 points for Timberlake, which used stifling defense to create turnovers and fast-break chances during a dominating first half. Taylor Foley led Riverside with seven points.

Cheney 62, Deer Park 41: Kristie McGourin scored 12 points and Brette Draper added 11 as the Blackhawks (1-2) beat the visiting Stags (0-3). A 17-9 Cheney run in the third quarter put the game out of reach for Deer Park. The Stags were led by Damaris Guske’s 10 points.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 48, Medical Lake 27: Kaytlyn Curtis led three players in double figures with 15 points and the Broncos (1-1) topped the host Cardinals (0-1). Tommi Swannack added 13 points for LRS and Hailey Hosteader led Medical Lake with 10.

Liberty 52, Waitsburg 36: Christine Denny had 26 points, eight rebounds and five steals in leading the Lancers (2-0) past the visiting Cardinals. Madelynne Flaig added 13 points for Liberty, which forced 27 turnovers.

Republic 33, Omak 25: The Tigers (3-0) pulled away in the third quarter and beat the host Pioneers. Lily Beckwith scored nine points and Savannah Bowe added eight for Republic, which extended its two-point halftime lead with a 13-4 third-quarter run. Trisha Boyd led Omak with 10 points.

Kettle Falls 52, Curlew 24: Makayla Hall scored eight of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter and the Bulldogs (2-2) eased past the host Cougars (1-1). Erin Johnson added 13 points for Kettle Falls. Kayla Engen led Curlew with 11.

Davenport 47, Odessa-Harrington 20: Meika Heath scored a game-high 16 points and the Gorillas (1-0) took control from the outset in a win over the host Titans (0-3). Odessa-Harrington’s Lanessa Simon had 14 points and five rebounds.

Selkirk 31, Priest River 23: Hannah Rick scored 10 points and the Rangers (1-2) used a 13-5 second-quarter run to gain control and beat the Spartans (1-2) at Priest River. Rachel Akre led Priest River with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Oakesdale 51, College Place 13: Jacey Johnson had 16 points and 12 rebounds in leading the Nighthawks (2-1) past the Hawks in College Place. Lindsey Lindgren added 12 points for Oakesdale, which limited College Place to just two second-half points.

Touchet 64, St. John-Endicott 49: Sierra McKeown hit five 3-pointers and scored 35 points to guide the Indians past the Eagles (0-2, 0-1) in St. John. Katie Skramstad added 20 points for Touchet, which outscored St. John-Endicott by 20 points through the second and third quarters. Abby Glorfield led the Eagles with 21 points and Gracie Dickerson added 10 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
