Obituary: Fahlgren, Pauline E. “Paddy”

Age 93

FAHLGREN, Pauline E. “Paddy” (Age 93) Paddy Burns Fahlgren was born on June 28, 1921 and passed away peacefully on February 9, 2015 in Spokane, WA.

She married Navy pilot J.S.

“Cliff” Fahlgren.

Mom thrived in Military life!

Throughout their marriage a military career required numerous moves across the country often every two years.

As Dad rose through the ranks of the Navy, ultimately as a Commander, Mom was a consummate hostess for his various squadrons.

She held cocktail parties, wedding receptions and showers for men and families under Dad’s command.

Unable to have children of their own, Paddy and Cliff adopted three children: Michael in Hawaii, Cathy in Virginia and Greg in Spokane.

Wherever we lived she created a warm home environment, wallpapering, painting and gardening her beloved roses, making it our families “new” place.

She loved cooking and entertaining for neighbors, family and friends.

Through all the traveling and moving, Mom remained steadfast in her Catholic faith and the religious education of her children.

After Cliff’s retirement from the Navy they returned to Spokane where they began their ardent support of Gonzaga University basketball.

They celebrated 58 years of a strong marriage before his death in 2000.

Mom is survived by her sister Aileene; her three children: Michael (Teri) Fahlgren, Fairfax, VA., Cathy (Andy) MacGillivray Spokane, WA.

and Greg (Nancy) Fahlgren, Spokane, WA.

; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation Wednesday, February 18, from 4 to 6 pm at Hennessey Funeral Home.

Memorial Service, Thursday, February 19, 11 am at our Lady of Fatima Parish.
