The more, the beerier

We now have opening dates for two of the new local breweries on the horizon.

Daft Badger in midtown Coeur d’Alene today announced it will launch on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m.  Darrell Dlouhy, a painting contractor, has remodeled his former business operation for the brewpub at 1710 N. 2nd St., two blocks directly west of Slate Creek .

In addition to beers from the 10-barrel system – starting with an amber, pale, IPA and porter – there will be a food menu featuring house-smoked meats.

And Black Label , in the burgeoning east end of downtown Spokane, is planning its grand opening for Saturday, Jan. 31, with more details to follow.

The four-barrel brewery will be housed in the new Saranac Commons development at 19 W. Main Ave. along with a handful of other businesses including Common Crumb, a bakery from the owners of Santé . Look for some collaborative efforts between the two.

Meanwhile, 238 Brewing on Green Bluff just received final federal approval and also expects to start pouring sometime this month.
