Indians lose after error-filled seventh inning

BOISE – Tied at seven in the seventh inning, the Boise Hawks took advantage of several miscues by the Spokane Indians – including three errors and four walks in the frame – to score five times and eventually beat the Indians 14-7 at Memorial Stadium. Spokane (16-17) built a 7-1 lead after a five-run top of the fifth, hightlighted by a bases-loaded, two-run single by Ti’Quan Forbes – who extended his hitting streak to six games – and an RBI double by LeDarious Clark (2 for 5; double, triple). Boise (12-21) rallied though, answering with a 3-spot against reliever Joe Palumbo in the bottom half and three more off Kohsuke Tomita in the sixth. Omarlin Lopez took over for Tomita in the seventh, and things went sideways for the Indians. After a walk and single, a fielding error by Forbes loaded the bases. Lopez (1-1) uncorked a wild pitch and, combined with a throwing error by catcher Sherman Lacrus, two runs scored. After another walk, a run came home on a delayed double steal. Tyler Davis replaced Lopez, but his errant pickoff throw allowed yet another run to cross. Davis then walked Nate Causey – the fourth walk issued in the inning – and a sacrifice fly brought in the fifth run of the frame. Indians starter Cole Wiper allowed one run on five hits and three walks over four innings, striking out three.
