Obituary: Pring Luppert, Mardelle “Mardi”

Age 81

PRING LUPPERT, Mardelle “Mardi” Mardi Pring Luppert, nee Mardelle Brown, came into this world in Spokane on April 11, 1934 and left it on June 6, 2015.

From her arrival until her departure, she filled her life with love, music, and art, which she generously shared with her family and many friends.

These include her husbands Perry Pring and John Luppert and her beloved companion Gene Carpenter, all of whom preceded her.

Mardi’s mother, Helen nee Schwab Swank, her father, Al Brown, and sister, Eva Leona Sprigg, also preceded her.

Mardi was a loving and dearly loved step mother to John G. “Glenn” Pring (wife Maureen), Mary Jane “Penny” Pring Given, Peter Pring, Michael Pring, Sylvia Luppert, John “Jiggs” Luppert (wife Nan), Paul Luppert (wife Susan), Eve Luppert, Melody (husband Perry) Roberts, Gayle (husband Brick) Cortner, Marilyn (husband Jim) Hill.

Her grandchildren include Kaycee (husband Dave) Kaley, Kristi Pring, Kelly (husband Matt) Michels , Kathleen (husband Jim) Hedgcock, Scott Pring, Julie Hill, Cherie Hill, Robin Hill, Bob (wife Pallavi) Hill, Ryan Pring, Shelley (husband Christopher) Barnard, Carolyn (husband Kelly) Poole, Aileen Luppert, Pauline Luppert, Tracey Ellsworth, Brenda Fullmer (husband Jim), Leslie Nairine, Jill Walker (husband Randy), Becky (husband Anthony) Benning, Erin Lamb-Davis (husband John-Paul), Woody Cortner, Brandon Cortner (wife Bernadette), Belinda Johnson (husband Brett), Ben Thompson (wife Julie), Carrie Kish (husband Jeremy).

Mardi was a well known popular singer and jazz pianist in Portland and Spokane.

Most recently she was a member of the Swing Street Quartet.

She performed with Divas of Jazz and the Civic Theater.

She was also a talented painter, photographer, and jewelry artist.

She is a past president of the Spokane Jazz Society, and had been active with the Spokane Jewelers’ Guild, Roving Gamblers Motorcycle Club, Inland Northwest Accordion Club, and Spokane First Church of the Nazarene.

Her family is immensely proud of her musical talent and artistic work.

We will forever cherish Mardi’s good humor, kindness, beauty, and grace.

Services will be at Spokane First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd., Spokane, WA 99218 on Friday June 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
