Obituary: Pennington, John S.

PENNINGTON, John S. John was born in the Burnside Township of Pennsylvania to Warren and Marie Pennington.

He joined the Air Force in 1954 which brought him to Fairchild Air Force base in Spokane, Washington where he married Norene (Lindley) on January 19, 1958.

Serving in the Air Force their stations included Mississippi, Oklahoma, Okinawa, and New York with many TDY’s to various other countries before returning to Spokane to retire.

Upon retiring in 1974 he started a career as a Computer Technician at Unisys (Burroughs).

After many years traveling the state fixing machines, he took a job transporting kids on a Big Yellow School Bus.

This kept him busy until Norene was ready to retire and then they could do more traveling and cruising the high sea.

He enjoyed many sports.

His passion was bowling which led him to coaching youth leagues and even becoming an instructor of coaches.

He was also the President of a Monday night league for over 20 years as well as the President of a couple senior leagues.

He is survived by his wife Norene, three daughters and their husbands, Patricia (Gerry Klumb), Kathryn (Steve Cree) and Janice (Paul Hunter), seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Service will be held at Washington State Veterans Cemetery on March 3, at 11:15 a.m., located at 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake, WA 99022.
