In brief: Bowls fundraiser

Empty Bowls, a benefit for the Post Falls Food Bank, features a bowl of soup in a hand-decorated, locally made bowl for $15.

Refills costs $5, and children’s portions – bowl not included – are also $5.

Nearly a dozen local eateries will provide a variety of soups for the event, which takes place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center, 405 William St. in Post Falls.

Internet meal-planning

Joseph’s Grainery is hosting a free “What’s for Dinner? Check Online” class at four branches of Whitman County Library on Monday and Tuesday.

Registration isn’t required.

Classes takes place at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. John branch, 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Tekoa branch, 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Uniontown branch and 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Rosalia branch.

Kelli Collins, who handles social media and Web content for Joseph’s Grainery, will discuss using online meal-planning and recipe resources, such as food blogs and Pinterest.

The class is made possible through a Washington State Library grant via the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
