Obituary: Sorensen, Anna Marie

Age 96

SORENSEN, Anna Marie Anna Marie Sorensen went home peacefully to be with her Lord on May 8, 2015 at the age of 96.

She was born on February 1, 1919 in Spokane to Clara and John Hoffman, the second of three children.

Anna was a long time resident of Spokane having lived there for 90 years.

She attended Rogers High School in Spokane.

Since 2009, she lived in the Bellevue area mostly at Aegis Living in Bellevue.

She met her husband Harold Sorensen in the mid 1930s, married him on September 5, 1936 and became a fulltime homemaker.

Ann and Harold raised two children, Clifford and Judy.

Harold was a co-owner of the Troy Laundry on East Sprague in Spokane.

Anna spent many years enjoying family and friends at their Sacheen Lake cabin.

Many special days were spent fishing, boating, swimming and on family projects to keep the place looking beautiful.

Anna cooked the best breakfasts ever and the whole family remembers the mouth watering smells of frying bacon and pancakes.

She taught Junior High Sunday School for 27 years at Beacon Chapel Church.

Anna enjoyed traveling and generously took her grandchildren to Europe, Australia, and New York.

She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.

All who knew her remember her kindness and thoughtfulness, her humor and laughter, and her willingness to always help others.

Anna was devoted to her family, church, neighbors, and friends.

Anna was preceded in death by Harold; her parents, Clara Davis and John Hoffman; her sister, Josephine Bruna; and her brother, John Hoffman.

She is survived by her son, Clifford (Janie) Sorensen of Spokane; her daughter, Judy (Doug) McDonald of Bellevue, WA; her grandchildren, Jannine (Paul) McDonald-Martin of Los Angeles, Steven (Megan) McDonald of Marysville, WA, Danny (Diane) Sorensen of Glendale, AZ; her great granddaughters, Natalie and Angela McDonald of Marysville, WA; her sister-in-law, Alice Hoffman of Spokane; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Riplinger Funeral Home 4305 N Division in Spokane on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 11:00am - 5:00pm.

A funeral will be held at Riplinger Funeral Home on May 19, 2015 beginning at 11:30AM, followed by interment at Riverside Memorial Park.

Remembrances in her honor may be made to the Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church, 4449 N. Nevada, Spokane, WA 99207.
