Idaho state girls soccer: Lake City moves on to 5A semifinals
Havana Johnson scored three goals Thursday as Lake City (13-0-2) advanced to the semifinals of the State 5A girls soccer tournament at Meridian High School with a 4-3 victory over Rocky Mountain.
Camryn Wendlandt added one goal and two assists for the Timberwolves. Morgan Farrington had all three of Rocky Mountain’s goals.
The Timberwolves will meet Mountain View at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rocky Mountain High School.
In another opener, Josie Bush set up Sheva Mozafari’s goal as Centennial defeated Coeur d’Alene 1-0 at Rocky Mountain High.
The Vikings (9-5-1) will play a loser-out match against Skyline at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Meridian High.
State 4A
Century defeated defending champion Sandpoint 1-0 in an opener at Brothers Field in Caldwell after winning the penalty-kick round 3-1.
Sandpoint (7-6-3) will play Kuna at 10 a.m. Friday in a loser-out match.
State 3A
Brooklyn Cunningham, Alexa Ricks and Cecelia McAfee scored second-half goals to rally the Coeur d’Alene Charter Panthers (14-5-1) past the Shelley Russets 3-2 in an opener at Vallivue High School.
Shelley’s Brittney Baron scored at 21:54 and 47:01 before Cunningham, assisted by Cali Shipman, started the Panthers’ rally in the 53rd minute. McAfee’s goal at 72:39 was the winner.
The Russets had allowed only two goals all season.
The Panthers will meet league rival Timberlake at 1 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. The game will be a rematch of last year’s championship, won by CdA Charter.
Timberlake opened with a 2-1 victory over Community School.
