Obituary: Roberge, Alfred John

Age 72

ROBERGE, Alfred John (Age 72) “On the Road Again” John Roberge passed away on September 13, 2015 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA from complications following surgery.

John died peacefully with his wife and children by his side.

John was born on May 24, 1943 in Spokane, WA.

He was one of twelve children born to Alphonse and Rose Roberge.

Shortly after his family moved to Coeur d’ Alene, ID John attended Winton Elementary, Coeur d’ Alene Junior High and Coeur d’ Alene High School.

John served in the United States Army, he was honorably discharged in 1966, receiving the National Defense Service Medal.

In 1974 John started R&C Tree Service which began as a two man operation that has grown into a business that supports twenty families.

For the past 34 years John has worked side by side with his oldest son John Paul Roberge, who will continue to carry on his legacy.

In his earlier days John and his family spent many hours at the Stateline Speedway where he was track champion and record holder for several years.

He could always be found cheering on his kids and grandkids in their varied sporting events and activities.

John was an avid golfer, with a hole in one to his credit.

He loved to travel and there wasn’t a casino in the Western United States that he and his wife Rexann hadn’t visited.

The greatest love of John’s life was spending time with his family, which included an annual Super Bowl trip to Vegas and many weekend barbecues.

John’s heart was as big as his personality, he was a very generous man who did many random acts of kindness and never knew a stranger.

He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Rexann at their home in Post Falls, ID; his children, John P. and (Sheri) Roberge, Spokane Valley, WA, Tina and (Paul) Gabriel, Spokane, WA; Paula and (Brad) Cushing, Post Falls, ID, Tim Schuetz, Bismarck, ND; and his two fur children Ruby and Chloe; his grandchildren, Jenalee and (Phil) Elle, Aaron and (Amber) Roberge, Kailee and (Merle) Roberge-Bighead, Britny and (Luke) Hohenstreet, Melanie Moffat, Marina Gabriel, Tristyn and (Ty) Nelson, Whitney Cushing, Austin Gabriel, Caleb Schutez and Mason Cushing; his great-grandchildren who brought a huge smile to his face every time he saw them, Makena, Sidney, Donovan, Will, Paityn, Giana, Lilah and three more on the way.

John is also survived by his mother-in-law Dorothy Hanson; his brother-in-law Craig (Ardyce) Plumlee; his sisters Diane, Rose, Joan, Nettie; and his brother Frank; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alphonse and Rose Roberge; sons David and Joey Roberge; brothers Dave, Gene, Pete, and Phil and sister Lillian.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Real Life Ministries Bldg.
