Beer with a twist

Cocktail-inspired beers have become increasingly common around the area, from Orlison’s Old Fashioned-style 2 Finger Pour – conditioned on whiskey barrel chips with orange peel and bitters – to No-Li’s orange-accented Brass Monkey and ginger/lime Copper Donkey (after a Moscow Mule).

And weekly small-batch releases are another popular development, with Iron Goat’s just-completed Year of the Goat project spawning the likes of Daft Badger’s regular Wednesday offerings and No-Li’s Brewsday Tuesdays.

Now Downdraft is combining the two trends with its new Spirited Suds series. Each Friday, starting today, the Post Falls brewery will tap a single-keg specialty modeled after a classic cocktail.

First up is the Cos-beer-politan, the brewery’s balanced, medium-bodied Project Pale infused with cranberry and lime. Look for it pouring from the special lime green tap starting at 4 p.m. until the keg blows.
