Area roundup: Seattle women turn back cold-shooting Idaho

Alexis Montgomery finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds Friday and visiting Seattle took advantage of Idaho’s cold shooting during a 68-60 nonconference women’s basketball win in Moscow.

Kallin Spiller added 14 points and Kamira Sanders scored 12 for the Redhawks (5-5), who shot 11 of 12 from the free-throw line. Jacinta Beckley added a game-high 12 rebounds.

Mikayla Ferenz scored a game-high 21 points for Idaho (3-5) and shot 6 of 14 on 3-pointers. The rest the Vandals were 1 for 19 from long range and the team shot 58 percent (11 for 19) from the line.

North Idaho 93, Whatcom 67: Ronnie Harris scored 25 points, hitting 11 of 15 from the floor, and the Cardinals (5-2) rolled past the Orcas (5-4) during the first day of an NWAC crossover in Oregon City, Oregon.

NIC’s Gia Sorn came off the bench to hit 10 of 14 field goals and score 22. The Cardinals were 40 of 88 from the field and 4 of 7 from the line.

Men’s basketball

CC Spokane 87, Clark 79: Dedrick Pakootas came off the bench to lead five players in double figures with 19 points, hitting 7 of 7 from the line, and the Sasquatch (8-2) defeated the Penguins (3-3) to open play at an NWAC crossover in Vancouver, Washington.

Lamar Harris added 14 points and three steals for CCS, which shot 18 of 21 from the line. Cesar Sandoval added 13 points and JR Delgado had a team-high seven rebounds.
