Area girls: Faith Adams leads East Valley to Great Northern title

Faith Adams hit five 3-pointers and finished with 18 points to lead East Valley (12-6, 9-1) over visiting West Valley (10-7, 4-5) 55-35 on Friday.

With the win, East Valley – ranked 11th in state 2A the latest RPI ratings – clinched first place in the Great Northern League.

The Knights controlled from the start, outscoring the Eagles 17-5 in the first quarter and led by 18 at halftime. Genesis Wilkinson added 15 points for the Knights.

Hailey Marlow led West Valley with 13 points.

Northeast A

Medical Lake 47, Freeman 27: Jaxyn Farmen scored a game-high 11 points to help the Cardinals (16-2, 12-0) clinch the league title with a victory over the visiting Scotties (5-13, 4-8).

Medical Lake, ranked 11th in state 1A, outscored Freeman 22-6 in the second half to secure the league title.

Freeman’s Isabelle Miller and Macy Luhr had six points apiece.

Lakeside 54, Deer Park 33: Sienna Swannack scored 13 points, Joelle Mahowald added 12 and the Eagles (12-6, 9-3) beat the visiting Stags (9-9, 6-6).

Lakeside pulled away with a 12-4 fourth-quarter run.

Elli Pearce led Deer Park with 11 points.

Chewelah 55, Colville 41: Bailey Smith scored 13 points and the Cougars (12-5, 8-4) got past the visiting Indians (5-13, 4-8).

Krislyn Koler added 13 points for Chewelah, which closed on a 16-6 fourth-quarter run.

Hayden Hartman led Colville with 11 points.

Newport 45, Riverside 42: Sydni Lewis and Julie Schoener scored 10 points apiece to lead the visiting Grizzlies (5-13, 4-8) over the Rams (3-16, 1-11).

Newport used a 12-6 run in the second to take the lead and held on down the stretch.

Olivia Willis led all players with 16 points Riverside.

Northeast 2B

Liberty 55, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 44: Christine Denny scored 22 points, Maisie Burnham added 19 and the visiting Lancers (16-1, 12-1) defeated the Broncos (9-7, 7-5).

Liberty, fifth in state 2B, jumped out to the lead with a 23-point first quarter and led 40-19 at intermission.

LRS got within nine points in the fourth quarter but the rally stalled. Tessa Jantz led the Broncos with 18 points and Peyton Curtis added 15.

St. George’s 55, Northwest Christian 33: Hailey Higashi scored 14 points, with four 3-pointers in the first half, and the visiting Dragons (14-2, 11-1), sixth in state 2B, defeated the Crusders (8-8, 5-7) in their annual “Battle for the Holy Grail” rivalry game.

With the win, Northwest Christian stays ahead of Davenport for first place in the North Division.

St. George’s led by two after the first but erupted to outscore the Crusaders 43-23 over the next three quarters. Lydia Bergquist finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Dragons.

Northwest Christian was led by Mattea Nelson with 10 points and four steals and Jordan Rabe collected 16 rebounds.

Davenport 52, Springdale 23: Sydney Abbott scored 17 points and the Gorillas (13-2, 9-2), fourth in state 2B, routed the visiting Chargers (1-14, 0-11).

Sydney Zieler added 16 points for Davenport, which limited Springdale to single digits in all four quarters.

Nichole Beckman led Springdale with 18 points.

Colfax 65, Asotin 30: Carmen Gfeller scored 15 points and the visiting Bulldogs (11-5, 10-2) shot 47 percent en route to a win over the Panthers (5-9, 3-9).

Taylor Garcia added 10 points as every Colfax player that dressed scored. Asotin was led by Kylan Hernandez with 14 points and Samantha Nicholas added 10.

Wilbur-Creston 37, Kettle Falls 23: Ireland Corrigan and Jessi Reed scored 10 points apiece to help the visiting Wildcats (9-7, 7-5) defeat the Bulldogs (3-13, 1-11).

The Wildcats led 29-16 at the half and held Kettle Falls to seven points in the second half.

Kettle Falls was led by Taylor Dunlap with 10 points.

Tekoa-Rosalia 61, Reardan 42: Hannah Beach scored 28 points and the Timberwolves (5-11, 3-10) defeated the visiting Indians (7-9, 4-8).

Trailing by two at intermission, Tekoa-Rosalia broke away with a 34-point second half, finishing on a 23-11 fourth-quarter run. Tatiana Mendoza scored 12 points for T-R.

Kimberly Dewey led Reardan with 19 points.

Northeast 1B

Republic 58, Valley Christian 55: Shania Graham tallied 36 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals for the Tigers (18-1, 15-0), ranked second in state 1B, in a victory over the visiting Panthers (10-8, 9-4).

Phoebe Trigsted scored 18 points, Jolynn Pope had 14 points and Kendra Pope scored 10 points with 12 rebounds for Valley Christian.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 83, Northport 25: Berlyn Hunt and Caitlin O’Neil scored 18 points apiece and the Warriors (15-3, 11-1) beat the visiting Mustangs (3-15, 2-12).

Gabi Isaak added 16 points with 12 rebounds andSarah Bradshaw had 15 for ACH, which is ranked fourth in state 1B.

Hailey Young scored 13 points for Northport.

Curlew 69, Odessa-Harrington 43: Korin Baker scored 33 points and the visiting Cougars (10-8, 7-7) defeated the Titans (4-14, 4-9).

Curlew led 27-2 at halftime and busted out with a 21-7 third quarter to take over.

Odessa-Harrington was paced by McKennah Davison with 16 points while Maleah Davison added 10.

Inchelium 63, Wellpinit 37: Meika Heth scored 22 points with nine rebounds and the Hornets (9-7, 7-6) bounced the visiting Redskins (8-8, 5-6).

Khaila Swan earned nine points and 12 rebounds for Inchelium, which took over with an 18-3 third-quarter run.

Mariah Sherwood led Wellpinit with seven points.

Southeast 1B

Oakesdale 49, Touchet 29: Logan Reed scored 17 points and the visiting Nighthawks (14-3, 10-1) beat the Indians (7-6, 5-6) to stay in the hunt for a league title.

Reed added seven rebounds with four steals as the Nighthawks are pushing to knock off perennial state 1B champ Colton from their multi-year reign in the Southeast 1B. Oakesdale beat Colton on Jan. 7.

Only up by five at half, the Nighthawks exploded for 19 points in the third quarter. Jacey Johnson scored 14 points with 12 rebounds and five assists for Oakesdale.

Katie Skramstad scored 10 points and Hannah Kromm added nine rebounds for Touchet.

Colton 90, St. John-Endicott 13: Dakota Patchen scored 25 points and the Wildcats (15-2, 10-1), ranked No. 1 in state 1B, overwhelmed the visiting Eagles (2-15, 2-9).

Colton had three others double figures – Meghan Dvorak and Jordyn Moehrle 12 points apiece and Emily Schultheis had 11. Colton led 24-2 after the first quarter.

Intermountain

Bonners Ferry 53, Priest River 46: Brittany Spangler and Kadi Bateman scored 13 points apiece to help the visiting Badgers (7-6, 4-1) defeat the Spartans (5-12, 1-6).

Nicole Donn added 11 points for Bonners Ferry, which was hot from beyond the 3-point line with eight makes.

Priest River was led by Avery Summers with 12 points and eight rebounds. Rachel Akre scored 11 points and Melissa Krampert added 10.

Nonleague

Post Falls 59, Moscow 21: Bayley Brennan scored 13 points and the Trojans (17-2) routed the visiting Bears (5-10).

Tyler McCliment-Call scored 12 points and sister Jackson added 10 points for Post Falls, ranked third in state 5A in the latest Idaho media poll.

Gracey Meyer led Moscow with 13 points.

Lake City 61, Lakeland 21: Nina Carlson scored 16 points and the visiting Timberwolves (15-4) trounced the Hawks (2-16).

Lake City mustered 40 points in the first half to Lakeland’s seven.

Tauna Kirk led Lakeland with six points.

Clarkston 68, Lewiston 39: Kendyll Kinzer scored 19 points and the Bengals (13-5) beat the Bantams (9-8) at Lewis-Clark State College.

Cameron Jackson and Madison Wohl scored eight points apiece to lead the Bantams.

Kootenai 41, Coeur d’Alene Charter 37: Kaili Gentry scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds and the Warriors (4-7, 2-4) beat the visiting Panthers (11-6, 1-4) 41-37 on Friday.

Paxton Dotson added 12 points for Kootenai, which pulled ahead with a 21-15 third quarter and held its lead hitting key free throws down the stretch.

Kelly Ruebke led CdAC with 13 points.
