Gonzaga scores twice in ninth to slip past Huskies
The Gonzaga Bulldogs lost all of a four-run lead before rallying for a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to pull out an 8-7 nonconference victory over the visiting Washington Huskies on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs (11-10) led 4-0 after three innings and 6-1 through the sixth, but the Huskies (13-7) scored four runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to take a 7-6 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, Jake Vieth led off with a single and Jake Roberts followed with a walk. After an error on a fielder’s choice put runners on second and third, Troy Johnston delivered a game-winning two-run single.
